When Jules Hugs the Sky

This piece was originally written using a Roland SH-32 synth, a Boss looper pedal and a Sonus G2M MIDI converter. There is a video on my YouTube page of this being performed. The composition is a series of loops that are introduced one at a time and layered throughout the song. Several short interludes help to bridge these loops together.

Fast forward a few years, I always liked this idea and decided it needed a proper arrangement using strings and mallets. When playing around with various instrumentation, I stumbled upon some synth sounds and decided an alternate version using only synthesizers would also work. (The electronic version works nicely as a lullaby as my kids listened to it at bedtime for months.)

The title comes from a remark my then young daughter made about wanting to hug the sky. So this is for her...

~Enjoy and thanks for listening!
